We pick you up from your accommodation in the morning to start our Fes to Marrakech Desert tour, exactly to Merzouga via Midelt and Errachidia. The first stop will be in Ifrane, the “Moroccan Switzerland”, then to Merzouga via Midlet and the Ziz Valley.
During this visit, you will have a glimpse of the Middle Atlas and the High Atlas Mountains. Stop in the famous cedar forest – the largest in Morocco – where you will have the opportunity to see the barbarian monkeys. You will notice how the landscape changes to reveal hints of the Desert as the city of Errachidia approaches. After lunch, our journey continues along the spectacular Ziz Valley and it’s panoramic views. We will cross Berber villages to Erfoud. Arrival to Merzouga where you will spend night in Hotel.
Today around 9:00 am , we will go in 4 WD off-road tour around the dunes via the oasis of Merzouga, the nomadic depository, Khamlia village to visit the Gnawa’s village, originally slaves brought from darker-skin africa, to listen to their spiritual music, then continue to meet desert nomads in their tents, and discover a new sense of life. Not far away there’s the lake of Merzouga, with its bird populations, you’ll leave for Rissani. Once called Sijilmassa, this was the meeting place for the salt caravans, coming from Timbuktu in Mali.
Here you’ll walk through the souk, selling spices, vegetables and cloths. After a lunch pizza in Rissani you will gon back to your amazing hotel in Merzouga to meet your camel caravan. Then, experience the Erg Chebbi dunes on camelback and watch the sunset change the color of the sand. Reach your desert camp before nightfall and enjoy an authentic Moroccan dinner under the stars. Local nomads will provide the entertainment and show you how to play the Tam Tam drums.
Today, you have the option to rise early in order to witness the breathtaking sunrise over the dunes, where the hues of the dunes blend with the interplay of shadows to create a magnificent view. Following breakfast, we will depart from the desert towards Tinghir and Todra Gorges. The route will take us through Tinejdad and the Todra Valley. This remarkable region offers numerous opportunities for hiking, whether it be along the river through the gardens or up the road on the opposite side of the gorge. Subsequently, we will proceed to the Dades Valley and the Dades Gorges before retiring for the night at a hotel.
After breakfast, we will leave to Marrakech, in our road we will pass the Roses Valley, which is famous for it’s Rose Festival in May. After getting Ouarzazate the Hollywood city, where we will visit kasbah of Taourirt, which was the home T’hami El Glaoui. Then later driving to Ait Benhaddou Kasbah, UNESCO world heritage site – one of the best preserved and most spectacular Kasbah in Morocco.
Later go Marrakech through the High Atlas Mountains, the highest road pass in Morocco via Tizi n t’ichka (2260 m). Enjoying with it’s panoramic views and their magnificent landscapes. Arrival Marrakech where our Fes to Marrakech Desert tour will end.
