After your morning meal, we will embark on a thrilling 4 WD off-road excursion through the sand dunes, passing by the enchanting Merzouga oasis, the repository of nomadic culture. Our journey will take us to the quaint village of Khamlia, where we will have the opportunity to immerse ourselves in the captivating music of the Gnawa people, who were originally brought as slaves from Africa. We will then continue our expedition to encounter desert nomads in their traditional tents, offering us a unique perspective on life. In close proximity lies the picturesque Merzouga lake, home to diverse bird species, before we make our way to Rissani. Formerly known as Sijilmassa, this historic town served as a vital meeting point for salt caravans arriving from Timbuktu in Mali.
Here you’ll walk through the souk, selling spices, vegetables and cloths. After a lunch pizza in Rissani you will gon back to your amazing hotel in Merzouga to meet your camel caravan. Then, experience the Erg Chebbi dunes on camelback and watch the sunset change the color of the sand. Reach your desert camp before nightfall and enjoy an authentic Moroccan dinner under the stars. Local nomads will provide the entertainment and show you how to play the Tam Tam drums.
