A Morocco desert tour can lead to the tall dunes of Merzouga and Erg Chebbi, the accessible Zagora region, or the remote landscapes of Erg Chegaga. The right choice depends on where you start, how many days you have and how much driving you are comfortable with.
Few experiences match the silence of deep Saharan sands as the sun dips below the golden crests of Erg Chebbi and Erg Chegaga. Our Morocco desert tours travel across ancient caravan routes once tread by salt traders, winding past thousand-year-old kasbah valleys, terracotta gorges, and secret palmeraies. Every expedition unites unhurried luxury with the timeless generosity of Berber hospitality.
Departing daily from our private hubs in Marrakech or Ouarzazate, each of our Morocco desert tours is curated to your personal cadence, ensuring a profound connection with the Sahara without grueling transit marathons.
Climate-controlled vehicles with high ground clearance for effortless dune navigation.
Private heated canvas suites featuring en-suite porcelain baths and hand-carved furnishings.
Multi-course Berber feasts, wood-fired bread, and fine tagines cooked by your personal camp chef.
Stop for candid photography, roadside mint tea, or impromptu medina strolls, without rigid timetables.
Your departure city affects the route, driving time and desert you can visit. A private tour allows flexible stops, but the distances remain significant.
Marrakech is a popular starting point for Zagora, Merzouga and Erg Chegaga. The route usually crosses the High Atlas and Ouarzazate.
Fes connects with Merzouga through the Middle Atlas and eastern Morocco. The route is long and should include regular comfort stops. You can continue from Merzouga towards Marrakech instead of returning to Fes. See "Fes Desert Tours" or "4-Day Marrakech to Fes via the Sahara".

A standard camp usually offers a canvas tent with a bed and linen. Washrooms are often shared, with dinner, breakfast and evening entertainment included. The camp generally has a communal atmosphere and may accommodate more guests.
A luxury camp usually provides a larger tent with an en-suite bathroom and hot shower. The tent may also include better furniture and additional comfort.
Not everything listed below is included in every tour. Each tour page explains exactly what is covered. Availability may also depend on the location and weather conditions.

Walk across the sand with a local guide and discover the beauty of the dunes at your own pace.
Watch the colours change across the desert as the sun rises or sets over the dunes.
Visit nomadic families, local villages or historic sites, depending on the route.
